The City of Abbotsford’s Innovation, Strategy & Intergovernmental Relations department is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated individual with proven skills and experience working in a fast-paced environment to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Communications and Marketing this position will work alongside our Communications division.
You will perform specialized communications and technical work involving responsibility for developing and sustaining the City’s web based technology. As the Communications and Web Technician you will develop design recommendations relating to the setup of information material on the Internet, Intranet and Websites along with leading approved web-based projects. Your role would be to act as a resource on City web and app-based initiatives; research best practices, trends, new standards and technologies.
As the successful candidate you will coordinate the analysis, strategic planning and design for the development and expansion of online services and identify opportunities and technical issues surrounding existing and proposed services along with preparing and presenting recommendations and reports.
As the successful candidate you will have considerable knowledge of methods and techniques used in the presentation and communication of information via computer networks, web-based writing, web and app technologies, editing, layout and research principles, methods and techniques.
The ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; along with good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadline are essential to be successful in this role.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Certificate in web technology or a certificate in computer sciences
- A minimum of five (5) years of directly related industry experience.
This position is unionized, CUPE Local 774, and the hourly rate of pay is from $30.61 to $36.01 plus an additional 12% in lieu of all benefits including vacation and statutory holiday pay.
