The Planning & Development Department is looking for a regular full time Planner 1 to join their team.
Reporting to the Manager, Planning, you will utilize your skills in urban design, organizational, negotiation and technical planning skills in helping achieve quality and innovative development. You will liaise with various internal and external contacts concerned with land development, design guidelines and general planning trends; answer inquiries and provide information to other departments and the public regarding planning zoning, land use or related matters. You will also direct the work of technical staff engaged in processing rezoning and redevelopment applications and in maintaining databases and will provide direction to consultants engaged in specific planning projects.
You will have a University degree in Community/Regional Planning and some professional planning experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Sound knowledge and experience in the analytical and research techniques and methodology in municipal planning is required, along with membership or eligibility for membership in the Canadian Institute of Planners and the Planning Institute of British Columbia. You will be required to attend evening Council, committee and public meetings. A Valid Class 5 Driver’s License for the Province of BC is also required.
$43.04 to $50.85 per hour (January 2019 rates)
Pay Grade 28
Hours of Work:
The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
