Regional Economic / Community Development OfficerTemporary Position
The Cariboo Regional District is seeking a candidate to fill the temporary full-time position of Regional Economic/Community Development Officer. The temporary term is expected to conclude January 31, 2020.
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Manager of Community Services, the incumbent would act as the point of contact for industrial and business enquiries; work with municipal Economic Development officers on identified strategic priorities; conduct research and analysis on economic forecasts; research and respond to significant economic issues; initiate community and regional projects and programs; research and identify grant funding opportunities; and prepare grant funding submissions for priority community and regional projects and programs.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to coordinate multiple projects from conception to completion, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in economic development and/or in a related discipline; have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in regional economic/community development or related knowledge. A combination of equivalent training and experience may be considered.
WAGE: This is a union position and is covered by the terms and conditions of employment as set out in the Collective Agreement between the Cariboo Regional District and the BCGEU. Accordingly, a standard probation period will apply. The current wage for this position is $35.19 per hour.
WORK SITE LOCATION: The successful candidate will operate out of the Cariboo Regional District Williams Lake Office located at Suite D, 180 3rd Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC. Williams Lake, British Columbia, a thriving community with all major amenities. The Regional District is known for its agreeable climate and a vast array of outdoor recreational opportunities.
HOURS OF WORK: The regular hours of work for this position are 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some evening work. As this position requires some travel throughout the CRD to attend meetings, the incumbent must have the ability to be flexible in their work schedule.
