Are you serious about getting hands-on experience in engineering and learning more about a career in local government? The District of North Vancouver has an exciting summer opportunity to assist in various transportation-related engineering projects and duties.
We currently have a temporary full time opening for a Transportation Engineering Clerk for the summer, to work as part of our Transportation Department. You will be involved in technical engineering and clerical work and the design of municipal engineering services. Duties may include; participation in project site investigations, sight-lines evaluations, inspecting street lights installations, assisting in establishing procedures and guidelines, investigate and address service requests, prepare drawings, charts and presentation graphics, assist in keeping maintenance records up-to date, assist in establishing inventory system, and analysing data. In addition you will perform research, and develop procedure improvements projects. Familiarity with computer aided drafting design (CAD) and Microsoft Excel is required.
- a minimum of two years post-secondary education in an undergraduate degree or technical diploma program in a discipline related to civil engineering
- be between the age of 15 and 30 years of age and be legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid SIN, be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act)
- have a valid B.C. Driver’s Licence
Term: Flexible start date (earliest April 29, 2019) for 12 weeks with the possibility of extension
Salary: $23.44 per hour, Union position
Hours of Work: Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 4:30pm
