The city of Burnaby is looking for a Dynamic individual to lead the customer service team at multiple sites in their direct provision of admission, services, registrations, bookings and customer service for a variety of recreation facilities in the North West. As a result of this work, citizens will enjoy recreation facilities and programs.
Reporting to the Recreation Complex Supervisor, the Recreation Office Supervisor is responsible for supervisory and clerical work in ensuring for the provision of an effective office support service in the North West Complex. The position supervises directly or through subordinates, schedules the work of subordinates at multiple worksites engaged in cashiering and clerical duties; reviews, develops and upon approval, implements new and improved systems and procedures; prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports; assists in the preparation of the budget and the monitoring of expenses; processes and checks cash reports; and provides information and assistance to a variety of internal and external contacts. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include high school graduation including or supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and commercial studies plus considerable related experience including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the functions, regulations (e.g. safety, etc.), rules and procedures governing applicable department operations and activities (e.g. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Recorded Information Management (RIM) and Payment Card Information); of standard office practices and procedures, including those pertaining to receiving and processing cash and cheque remittances and cash handling procedures. Sound knowledge of the methods, principles and practices used in maintaining, and determining causes of failures in the Parks and Recreation computer systems and software; of the needs of various community groups and individuals related to recreation facilities. Ability to supervise the work of a group of cashiering and clerical subordinates at multiple sites; to monitor expenditures, authorize expenditures within defined limits, and check cash reports; to review, develop and upon approval, implement new or improved systems and procedures and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts; to prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, correspondence, files and related materials; and to investigate and resolve routine software and hardware problems. Skill in the operation of related computer systems and equipment and office computer applications. Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.
