The Director of Asset Replacement and Improvements is a senior leadership position within Building Operations. The Director provides strategic leadership for the renovation, renewal and development of University buildings and grounds with project delivery assistance from other departments depending on value. The scope of the renovations and renewal works that this position is responsible for ranges from $5000 to $100K as is of a high volume. This position is also responsible for plan review to ensure maintenance, operational efficiency and compliance with the UBC’s technical guidelines and the successful transition of new buildings and large renovation to the maintenance and operations division. The Director will provides strategic leadership for the development of UBC technical specifications for new and existing buildings and grounds of the UBC Vancouver campus to ensure the university's financial exposure is minimized and that spaces perform properly to enable excellence in research, teaching and learning. This includes all Electrical, Mechanical and Architectural systems in over 225 buildings of varied complexity and valued at $4.8B. Leads a workforce of approximately 50 staff in technically specialized trades. The Director will also prepares business plans and be financially responsible for an operating budget of approximately $5 million and supports an annual capital budget that ranges from $10M to $40M. They are financially responsible for the expenditure of approximately $5M in construction projects per year.
