The City of Quesnel is seeking applications for a Junior Accountant to join our Financial Services team. Reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Services, this position is responsible for performing various accounting functions and providing backup for the Supervisor of Financial Services position.
Nature of Position: The Junior Accountant will support the accurate and timely operation of the finance and accounting function by performing a variety of day-to-day and period-end accounting tasks that ensure accurate, timely, relevant and reliable financial information and reporting. This individual will be highly driven with a proven record of accomplishment of working both independently and in a team environment, in addition to demonstrating strong initiative, communication and organization skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably major in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of a one (1) year of experience in a full billing and/or accounting cycle
- Must be working towards obtaining an accounting designation (i.e. CPA)
- Advance level in Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Previous experience with municipal government is an asset
- Previous experience with Vadim software is an asset

This is a Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) position with an hourly rate of pay of $35.70 as well as a competitive benefits package.
