The City of North Vancouver - Police Administration Department requires auxiliary Communications Operator 2s to work at the RCMP Detachment.

You will perform responsible specialized work involving the operation of a police radio, telephones, and computer terminal equipment on an assigned shift.  Considerable initiative is necessary in handling all radio traffic for the Detachment, for controlling the priority of such traffic, and for dispatching mobile units in response to complaints and emergency situations.  This work requires a high degree of operational speed and accuracy, the use of sound judgment and the ability to work in a stressful environment.

You will use CPIC, PRIME and CAD, monitor various radio channels, and operate and maintain recording equipment.  A considerable knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the operation of the above is required.  Sound experience with related duties as an Information Channel Operator and Complaint Taker is essential.  Sound judgment, combined with the ability to think clearly and quickly in emergency situations with accurate results is a necessity.  Strong interpersonal skills are also required along with demonstrated ability to take initiative, provide exceptional customer service, and contribute positively in a team environment.

You will have the ability to type at a net speed of 40 wpm and possess related education, training and experience.  You will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP security clearance as a condition of ongoing employment.

Salary:
$29.74 to $34.98 per hour
(Pay Grade 19 – January 2019 rates)

Hours of Work:
Shift Work – 24/7 operations
