In this exciting and challenging position, you will play a key role in enhancing Prince George parks. You will provide leadership to operational staff engaged in construction and boulevard repair.  The work also involves physical labour, equipment operation, landscaping, laying sod, snow control activities, record keeping and report writing.  This position works outdoors in all weather conditions and is subject to shift changes.

As the successful candidate you demonstrate a commitment to teamwork and safety. Required qualifications include: Grade 12, a Class 5 driver’s license and at least four years’ experience working directly with turf construction and repair. As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete one course in a subject related to turf from an accredited post-secondary institution within one year of hire.  Level 1 First Aid is preferred or must have the ability to obtain within one year of hire.  Ideally you have demonstrated experience in planning, coordinating and overseeing the work of contractors in construction or capital projects as well as experience preparing for and overseeing the construction and installation of playgrounds in accordance with CSA Playground Structure Guidelines.  Being proficient operating a Skid Steer Loader (Bob Cat) is also desirable.

This position requires a clear Police Information Check for offences related to the position. A full-privilege valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License (or out of province equivalent) is also required.

We may consider less than qualified applicants provided they have a minimum of four years’ experience working directly with turf construction and repair.

This regular full time position offers an hourly wage of $31.32 plus an excellent pension and benefits package.
