Resources and Development Manager


The Uchucklesaht Tribe Government is seeking a skilled, experienced and motivated individual to work within the Department of Lands and Resources as the Resources and Development Manager. This position is responsible for working on multiple items within the Department of Lands and Resources including, lands planning and development, recreational and aquaculture tenure growth, resource harvesting management and opportunities, funding acquisition and field based monitoring, research and resource handling.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Prefer Master’s Degree in Natural Resource Development or Land Use Planning.
  • Bachelor Degree in one or more of the following, Natural Resource Management, Planning, Land Management or Environmental Studies, or a related discipline.
  • 7 – 10 years of experience in a land management position.
  • Experienced with digital map or drawing production.
  • Experienced with the principles and practices of land resource planning and management.
  • Experienced operating boats, and traveling to remote locations either by land or water.
  • Knowledge of land management issues and legislation affecting First Nations both locally and nationally, including treaty First Nations.
  • Ability to research, analyze and develop strategic goals, work plans, and policies and procedures.
  • Ability to comprehend and develop policy papers, technical/scientific papers, and present technical data to supervisors, citizens and other key partners.
  • Ability to function in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers, citizens, and with outside agencies, partners and business associates.
