Accounting and Payroll Specialist
Regular Full-Time Position
The British Columbia Municipal Safety Association (BCMSA) is an independent, non-profit organization. Our mandate is to improve worker health and safety through the sharing of knowledge and resources across the province of B.C.; to be the health and safety resource of choice by ensuring our services follow the principles of being credible, responsive, customer-focused and innovative.
BCMSA has grown to the point that we are in need of an individual to assume the full cycle responsibilities of the Payroll and Accounting functions. This position is the perfect mix of AP/AR, invoicing and billing, payroll processing and general office administration duties. We are looking for an energetic, experienced individual who enjoys exercising a considerable degree of independence of judgement and action within established guidelines to join our team.
Reporting to the Office Manager, the ideal candidate will possess 3-5 years of knowledge and experience in handling payroll, benefits, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including proficiency with all year-end, audit, and double entry bookkeeping methods and procedures. This experience must include 1- 2 years of full-cycle experience. Knowledge and experience in Sage 50 accounting software would be considered an asset. Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by bookkeeping and accounting courses and completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) courses are required as is proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
We are in search of an individual who has the ability to be a team player while being comfortable working independently, someone who has excellent written and oral communication skills, is known to be a quick learner, is able to manage multiple priorities effectively, is extremely detail-oriented, has strong analytical skills, and is known for their ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
