Town of High River
THE COMMUNITY – A People First Community:
With almost 14,000 residents, High River maintains a small-town feel while having convenient access to larger urban centres; it is a vibrant and thriving community that offers an inclusive social environment and locally-owned dynamic businesses.
We are proud of everything that makes our community great. Our 2018 Vital Signs Report celebrates our sense of community, belonging and friendliness; our diversity of art, culture and heritage accessible to residents; our events that showcase arts and culture; and the amount and diversity of healthy activities offered.
We are a “People First Community,” and believe that if we take care of our employees they in turn will take care of our customers and the community. Our employees are at the core of what we do and are essential to making our community great.
Our purpose, or why we do what we do, is because we want to make a difference in our community now and for generations to come (our ‘why’). To achieve this we respect one another, inspire each other, can be counted on, are better together and dare to be different (our ‘how’).
Through the dedication and passion of our 150 employees, we deliver important services to the community, including: Recreation, Community Support Services, Protective Services, Roads, Utilities, Water Treatment, Planning and Development. All of these are supported with critical behind the scenes services, like Engineering, Finance, Legislative Services, Information Technology, Risk Management and Human Resources, to name a few.
