HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic
(Facility Operations)
Regular Full Time Position

The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Trades Qualified mechanic in the Facility Operations Division. The successful candidate will perform skilled and mechanical tradesperson work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems, at municipal buildings and facilities, including ammonia ice plants.  The successful candidate will also direct the work of apprentices and others within the trade.

Requirements include minimum grade 12 or equivalent; Certificate of HVAC & Refrigeration Apprenticeship and HVAC & Refrigeration Trades Qualification Certificate; Class B Gasfitter Ticket; five years of experience as a Trades Qualified Refrigeration Mechanic; Refrigeration Field Safety Representative designation (RE FSR); satisfactory Police Information Check and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  The successful candidate will be required to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, 40 hours per week.

This is a C.U.P.E. Local 2011 position with a wage of $36.61 per hour and an excellent benefits package.
