Traffic Operations Engineer

We have a very exciting new position reporting to the Senior Traffic Operations Engineer in our Transportation team that will assist with the planning, upgrading, monitoring and maintenance of the traffic signal systems and street lighting within the City’s integrated multimodal network.
 
The primary objective of this position will be to review and approve signal designs/modifications for new developments and capital works, signal timing and coordination plans, and equipment replacement schedules. This position will also monitor equipment maintenance, plan system upgrades and expansions, maintain short, medium and longer term plans for new traffic signals, and model individual intersections and network traffic. This position will supervise two Traffic Signal Technologists and a Traffic Signal Technician.
 
The successful candidate will have a P. Eng , EIT, or Limited License designation and several years’ experience working with traffic signal hardware and software; and have experience with the operation and maintenance of street lighting infrastructure and standards or an equivalent amount of training and experience. A valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent is required.
