Communications Coordinator

Te’mexw Treaty Association requires a Communications Coordinator to explain our treaty to the citizens of our five Member Nations.   
The Communications Coordinator will be expected to hold regular Community Meetings, Family meetings, Elders meetings, Youth Meetings and Working Age Member meetings to explain the treaty process and its issues. Strong public speaking skills, great writing skills, and event planning experience are some of the key strengths required. 

Other forms of communication skills are also required, including website management and other social media, creating newsletters and preparation of media releases.
  • Strong understanding of First Nations issues including Coast Salish Culture & Protocol
  • Strong understanding of Te’mexw Member Nations preferred methods of communications such as family meetings; home visits; Heads of Family Meetings; and the like
  • Strategic planning experience
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills, computer literacy, and the ability to work closely with our Negotiating Team, Administrative staff and Treaty Office Clerks
  • Managing a budget – Intermediate Excel Skills
Applicant must complete a satisfactory criminal record check and must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle. The Communication Coordinator will be based out of our Victoria offices and will be expected to travel to all five of our member First Nations on a regular basis.
