Technical Services Specialist
Regular Full Time

The Information Technology Division requires a regular full time Technical Services Specialist.
You will be responsible for maintaining the performance of the municipality’s technology infrastructure and keeping systems current.  You will assess, design, plan and implement IT infrastructure systems according to needs, recommend improvements and optimizations, perform root-cause analysis of issues, and participate in and/or perform remediation work.  Responsibilities will include application packaging and deployment, application virtualization, scripting, PowerShell, server administration, upgrades and patching, desktop architecture, imaging, and processes and standards development and documentation.  You will also provide technical direction and assistance to the Client Services team and participate in team meetings; liaise with a variety of internal and external contacts; and train, assist, and resolve issues for and with all types of end users.
You will be a seasoned team player with proven communication and facilitation skills, along with a detail orientation and a proactive approach to technology requirements and strategy.  You enjoy keeping current on technological trends and developments.
You will have a diploma/degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, and at least three years’ experience with Windows Server Administration, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.  You will also have thorough knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server 2012, Active Directory, Group Policy, SCCM, VMWare and App-V, Citrix XenApp, and XenDesktop.  Certifications in Microsoft, VMWare, ITIL, and experience with Admin Studio, Flexera, NetApp, Citrix and Cisco technologies would be assets.  A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
$40.16 to $47.44 per hour
(Pay Grade 28 – January 2015 rates)
Hours of Work:
Any 7 consecutive hours between 7:00am and 11:00pm pm, Monday to Friday, and may also be scheduled for a regular shift on Saturday between 8:30am and 5pm, exclusive of meal breaks. The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.
