Skating Instructors

Do you enjoy skating?

If you do, then consider a position with West Vancouver Community Services as a Skating Instructor!

The West Vancouver Community Services Department is currently accepting applications for Casual Skating Instructors for employment starting in September 2019. This position instructs and evaluates individuals learning to skate; from basic to more advanced skills.

Duties also include report card writing and incident report writing. The ability to be creative and fun while working with people and excellent customer service, communication, organizational and program planning skills are needed. Instructors should also be able to demonstrate and follow a lesson plan based on the skating levels and progressions. Applicants should enjoy varied tasks and an energetic and exciting workplace.

Majority of available shifts are on Mondays and Wednesdays with an occasional Saturday or Sunday. Availability for at least one weekday shift and one weekend shift is required. Please include your availability and future plans for the April – June 2020 skating season in your cover letter.
Closing date is August 22, 2019 but review, processing of applications, and hiring will begin immediately until the positions have been filled.

The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.  

Position Status:
Non-Union – Casual  

Hours of Work:
Varied (Shifts are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.)  

Rate of Pay:
$15.50 to $21.50 per hour plus 4% in lieu of benefits, based on experience and training
