The LGMA and CAMA are pleased to announce that the Whistler Centre for Sustainability have joined the line-up of presenters offering three additional web-based training sessions to you this Spring!  As local governments are required to have a sustainability plan in place in order to access Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) grants for planning or infrastructure, one of the following webinars may be of interest to you.  

Integrating Your Sustainability Plan into Other Plans and Policies– June 12 & 13  (Presenter: Dan Wilson)

This webinar will discuss the intent of a sustainability plan as the community’s highest level policy and how all other community plans and policies should be aligned and integrated with the vision and goals of the sustainability plan.

Key Learning Outcomes – At the end of the webinar, participants will have learned about:

  • The role of a community sustainability plan as the highest level policy
  • Strategies for integrating the vision and goals from a sustainability plan into other plans and policies
  • How the directions from a community sustainability plan should be used to guide decision-making
  • Examples of plans and policies that have been aligned to a community sustainability plan

Putting Your Sustainability Plan into Practice – June 19 & 20  (Presenter: Shannon Gordon)

This webinar will focus on the implementation elements of a sustainability plan, including involving community partners in action planning, as well as using tools to align decision-making with the goals of the sustainability plan.

Key Learning Outcomes – At the end of the webinar, participants will have learned about:

  • A recommended action planning process based on the Whistler2020 Task Force model
  • Getting community partners involved and committed
  • Decision-making tools for aligning corporate decision-making with the sustainability plan’s vision and goal
