The 2020 CAMA Awards Recipients
We are pleased to feature the 2020 Award Winners over the next few editions of e-Brief.
Congratulations to the Town of White City: 2020 Environment Award – Under 20,000 Population Category

The White Butte Ecomuseum Ecology Heritage Project gives students and teachers an opportunity to explore and discover natural features and wildlife on the prairie landscape. The Ecology Heritage Project is designed to meet several Saskatchewan curricular goals. Concepts and theories pertaining to basic biological, ecological, environmental, historical, and social factors are outlined in each activity. The lessons are premised on discovery and exploration to stimulate student curiosity and lifelong learning; interaction with the land to generate a strong sense of self and community by learning from place; and hands-on activities that stimulate discussion about environmental, social and economic sustainability to nurture engaged, responsible citizens.

The Ecology Heritage Project is delivered by volunteers from the University of Regina, Nature Saskatchewan and the Greenall Outdoor Education class in the Spring to Grades 4 and 6 students on local conservation land. The project illustrates how community partnerships between places of higher learning, local schools, museums and community initiatives can successfully be used to promote community development.  For more information and to watch the video.
Congratulations to the District Municipality of Muskoka: 2020 Professional Development Award - Between 20,001 and 100,000 Population Category

To support their Strategic Priority to attract, develop and retain knowledgeable, innovative and high performing employees, the District of Muskoka (District) created a Leadership Acceleration Program. The District partnered with Mohawk College Enterprise to implement the program to address today’s challenges and opportunities faced by senior leaders in the workplace. The program is intended to gain valuable insight into leadership styles and provides leaders with the skills and behaviours critical to challenging the status quo, mastering crucial conversations, and creating a leadership legacy. The program runs over an eight month period and includes a half day kick-off session, 3 assessments followed by 2.5 hours of one-on-one coaching and 4 face to face workshops. The program addresses the key areas of: Emotional Intelligence; Creating a Culture of Healthy Dialogue; Challenging Communications; and Innovation and Creativity. Aimed at Municipal Directors and higher, a pilot program was offered in 2019 and a second delivery of this program is expected to take place in 2020. Through the creation of the program, the District is demonstrating its commitment to talent management and effect leadership development.  For more information watch the video.
