Transforming Local Government Conference Registration is Open!
For the first time, we’re offering TLG Throwback Rates.  Register before December 15 to get the member rate of $600. The Early Bird Rate then goes to $660. Get all of the info here.   The Transforming Local Government Conference (TLG) is different from any other conference you will attend. TLG attracts attendees from local governments that are deliberately seeking new and innovative ways to meet new challenges and provide high quality service to the communities they serve. TLG is recognized for its dynamic content, which encourages team building, free thinking and fosters unprecedented ideas. Participants hear presentations directly from the teams that have created some of the most innovative programs and projects in local government today. These are comments from two of the attendees last year.

"This was a great opportunity to meet others in the same profession and to share ideas of things that can make a real difference in our communities. What inspired me most was the willingness of every one of the presenters to have taken a risk." Peggy Bunzli, Budget Officer, City of Boulder, CO.

“TLG is by far the most valuable conference experience. The sessions are thoughtfully planned and include stand out practitioners. Networking opportunities are endless and
diverse." Stephanie Smith, Assistant to the City Manager, City of Flagstaff, AZ.

Applications now available for 2019 Urban and Hometown Green Team grants

Urban and Hometown Green Team grant applications are now available for organizations to hire youth between the ages of 15 and 29 for summer jobs in Manitoba, Municipal Relations Minister Jeff Wharton announced on November 23rd.  "Green Team programs provided more than 1,200 young Manitobans employment in the summer of 2018," said Wharton. "Investments into Green Team projects provide our youth with valuable work experience while working on projects that benefit our communities."  Green Team provides grants to hire youth ages 15 to 29 to work on community projects between May 1 and Aug. 31. The program is split into two streams:  Urban (Winnipeg) and Hometown (all other municipalities).  Eligible recipients include non-profit organizations under both streams, and rural municipalities under the Hometown stream.  Priority is given to children/youth recreation and volunteer projects, as well as projects that hire Indigenous youth, visible minority youth and youth with a disability, and projects located in northern Manitoba and in areas of demonstrated need.  Non-profit organizations receive 100 per cent of wage costs and up to $250 per position for support costs. Municipal governments receive 50 per cent of wage costs and up to $125 per position for support costs, on a cost-shared basis.  For more information on Green Team applications visit www.gov.mb.ca/mr/bldgcomm/recreg/greenteam.html.
