AUMA Members: Stormwater Management Survey

The Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) is asking members to complete an online survey on stormwater management by September 30, 2013. The survey is an important first step in identifying barriers and innovative approaches and solutions to managing storm water.

Information collected in the survey will assist AUMA in developing policies surrounding stormwater management and infrastructure in 2014.

Changing development and growth patterns are altering the landscape and flow of storm water in our communities.  Increased runoff rates, greater volumes, and higher concentrations of pollutants in stormwater may adversely impact Alberta municipalities and the environment by:
•Increasing the risk of flooding.
•Damaging property and infrastructure.
•Decreasing surface and groundwater quality.
•Compromising the health of aquatic habitats.
•Altering sedimentation, erosion, and flow rates in water bodies.

To let AUMA know how you’re managing your stormwater and what challenges are most important in your community take the online survey at:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2013AUMAStormwaterManagementSurvey

Should you have any questions regarding this survey, please contact Laura De Carolis at 780 989 7429.

Successful Managers' Tip: The Leadership Contract

Best selling author, thought leader, and keynote speaker Dr. Vince Molinaro explains why leadership, and specifically leadership culture, is the only real differentiator between the organizations that thrive and those that fall behind.

With keynotes designed for top-level executives, mid-level managers, front-line leaders, and emerging leaders, he identifies the gap in leadership accountability and explains the mindset required for great leadership.  His NY Times Best Selling book, The Leadership Contract, lays out the four terms and conditions of the leadership contract and enlists readers in making a conscious decision to lead:

1.Leadership is a decision. Make it.
2.Leadership is an obligation. Step up.
3.Leadership is hard work. Get tough.
4.Leadership is a community. Connect.
