Municipal Administrators Across Canada Receive Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medals
Over fifty members of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA), received The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, for their outstanding contributions to the municipal civil service and their communities.

Nominations were submitted by the CAMA Board of Directors for members that have been a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for twenty-five years or more; those that have completed thirty and thirty-five years of municipal service in a management capacity (as a CAO or reporting to a CAO); Honourary Life Members; and Past Presidents.

This commemorative medal was created to mark the 2012 celebrations of the 60th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the Throne as Queen of Canada. The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal is a tangible way for Canada to honour Her Majesty for her service to this country.

Thank You from Our Members!
The National Office has received many letters of appreciation and thanks from our members who were awarded The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.  Below is a letter from Mr. Doug Lychak, CAMA Past President and Retired Member:

"Thank you for your congratulatory letter informing me of my nomination by CAMA for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.  Would you please personally accept my appreciation and pass on my thanks to the whole CAMA Board for having nominated me for this prestigious award.   After many years in local government service, it is gratifying to receive recognition.   Most taxpayers cannot and never will appreciate the commitment of time, effort and personal sacrifice that goes into managing large, complex organizations that so many of us have been responsible for.    Nothing is more important than the recognition of one’s peers and I will certainly treasure this honour in all the years to come."

The 2013 ICMA Annual Awards Nominations Process Has Begun!
Each year, ICMA recognizes outstanding contributions to the local government management profession through the Annual Awards Program.  This is a great opportunity for both local government professionals and local governments to receive recognition.

Awards are conferred to individuals for career excellence, development of new talent, excellence in leadership as an assistant (regardless of title), and academic contributions to the profession.  ICMA’s Annual Awards Program also recognizes outstanding local government programs in the areas of community health and safety, community partnerships, community sustainability, and strategic leadership and governance. Nominations are accepted from both U.S. and International Jurisdictions.

Please take a moment to consider which of your colleagues has made a significant difference in their community or to the profession. Or, has your community implemented an innovative or successful program that you would like to nominate?  Celebrate the profession by nominating your colleague, your community or yourself for a 2013 Annual Award.

Nominations for Annual Awards will be accepted through March 8, 2013.   Award recipients will be recognized during ICMA’s 99th Annual Conference in Boston, Massachusetts, September 22-25, 2013, and highlighted in a fall issue of ICMA’s PM magazine. Visit the awards page of ICMA’s website at icma.org/awards for complete information on both the Annual Awards Program and the nomination process.  Nominations will be accepted from both U.S. and International jurisdictions. Students are encouraged to nominate a professor the Academic Award.   Questions?  Contact Felicia Littky at [email protected] or (202) 962-3656.
