Scholarships
The Board of Examiners administers two scholarship programs:
1) The Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) Commemorative Scholarship Program
This is a provincially funded scholarship program established in 1980 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the UBCM. The program provides financial assistance to persons working in local government in the province who:
- are taking courses leading to certification and / or
- wish to upgrade their professional skills through enrolment in post-secondary courses of study and / or attendance at other courses relating to local government administration.
2) The Jeff McKelvey Scholarship Program
In 1986, the UBCM established this program upon the retirement of the late Jeff McKelvey, who served as Executive Director of the UBCM for 14 years. Any local employee is eligible to receive an award from this fund to assist in improving job skills.

The Municipal Finance Authority of British Columbia administers the following scholarship funds:
1) James R. Craven MATI 1 Scholarship Fund
The purpose of this fund is to provide assistance to those
attending the Municipal Administration Training Institute
(MATI) 1. Application included with MATI 1 registration.

The Local Government Management Association administers the following scholarship programs:
1) The Grant Anderson Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of the Grant Anderson Memorial Scholarship is to encourage those
students with an interest in local government administration, local
government law and governance, and in planning and land-use law to pursue
post-secondary education in one of those fields. The value of this annual
scholarship will be up to $1,000, and will be paid in two equal instalments
upon proof of registration at a post-secondary institution in one of the
approved subject areas.

Scholarships for the MATI 2 and MATI 3 courses are available.
