Do you have a passion for environmental stewardship? Are you interested in the effective management of Facilities and Recreation? Are you a dynamic leader? The Town of Canmore, a vibrant and rapidly growing community in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains, is currently recruiting for the position of Senior Manager of Recreation and Facility Services.

This opportunity offers a blend of responsibility relating to the overall leadership of core service areas within Recreation and Facility Services which includes Town Facilities, Aquatics, Recreation Support Services and the Canmore Recreation Centre Facility Operations business areas.

The successful candidate will require strong team leadership abilities to provide professional guidance to staff. This position requires you to have skills to make recommendations, oversee quality control and compliance, project management, undertake short and long term strategic planning and prepare financial projections and budgets for the department. A key component with this position includes administrative report preparation and Council presentations.

The Town of Canmore is committed to developing a sustainable community, including acting as a community leader in environmental stewardship. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and expertise in managing the construction of "green" buildings and retrofitting/updating older facilties. As examples, in 2005 the Town won an Emerald Award and an FCM Award for the building of its Silver LEED certified Civic Centre. In addition, the Town of Canmore has a green build policy for its own buildings.

Your resume should indicate post-secondary education in Facility Management (RPA, FMA, CFM) and Recreation Facility Management or equivalent. Candidates should possess a minimum of six years of experience in facility management including supervisory skills. Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets, communications and databases is essential. Knowledge of specialized software for facilities, asset management and project management would be an asset.
