Human Resources Advisor
West Shore Parks & Recreation Society is a comprehensive recreation complex operating facilities as diverse as Juan De Fuca Recreation Centre, Bear Mountain Arena, Juan de Fuca Golf and Centennial Centre with a staff group of approximately 275 full and part time staff. We are seeking a positive and proactive HR professional with excellent communication skills, sound judgment and ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, management and Society Board members.
Reporting to the Administrator this position provides leadership, management, direction, guidance and administrative assistance for all human resources functions including employee relations, labour relations, disability case management/occupational health and safety, classification and compensation, recruitment and selection, performance development, strategic HR planning, benefits, staff training and development, information systems, statistical information and all related generalist HR functions. Responsible for all Personal Information requests.
Qualifications. An undergraduate degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Commerce or Social Sciences and a minimum of 5 years progressive related experience. This position provides a positive, pro-active approach to HR management issues with a good understanding of best practices. Must have demonstrated skills in communication, interpersonal relations and conflict resolution. Must have the ability to be tactful, work independently, persuade and influence others, and exercise considerable judgment skills. Must be able to establish effective working relationships with staff, supervisors, management as well as Society Board members, maintaining confidentiality at all times. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including presentation skills. Must have experience with computer programs, and knowledge of relevant employment, labour law and related Human Resources legislation. Canadian Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation would be an asset in this position.
