Aquatic Leader 1 - P12-WINTER

Salary: $22.15 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits

Job Description:
The City of Burnaby requires auxiliary Aquatic Leaders at various multipurpose aquatic facilities.

Duties include: supervising, checking and participating in the work of aquatic staff engaged in lifeguarding, instructing, maintenance, custodial and clerical work for recreational aquatic programs. The Aquatic Leader 1 participates in the planning, organization and promotion of aquatic programs and conducting training programs for Aquatics staff. Assists in conducting a maintenance and custodial program ensuring that all pumps, filters, chlorinators and related water treatment equipment are properly functional, and that established standards of cleanliness and safety are enforced. Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports related to the work. The position requires energetic individuals who possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications include: Grade 12 supplemented by courses in lifesaving, aquatics, and fitness instruction, pool operation and maintenance, supervisory and related experience.

Required certificates/awards:
1. CPR level “C”
2. National Lifeguard Service Award - Pool Option (NLS)
3. Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
4. Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)

Desirable certificates: BCRPA - Aquafitness and Pool Operator’s Certificate. Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence required.
