The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for an auxiliary Recreation Programmer to join our team of professionals in the Recreation, Culture and Parks Division, Recreation, Culture, and Services Department, at the Aldergrove Community Center.

Reporting to the Community Recreation Manager, you will be directly responsible for the day-to-day planning, coordinating and scheduling of recreation activities for the Township of Langley. Team work, initiative and a strong background in all types of recreation programming, including working with community groups, volunteers, and participants of all ages are essential. Duties will also include organizing and coordinating special events, scheduling and evaluating staff and some facility supervision. Candidates must also be prepared to conduct training sessions for staff and ensure equipment maintenance schedules are consistently maintained.

Your education includes a university degree or diploma in recreation or a related field plus several years experience in the recreation field. Candidates must also possess a current Class 5 (full-privilege) B.C. Drivers License as well as current Emergency First Aid and current CPR certificates that are updated every two years. Superior customer service skills are vital as you are the working with the public, with staff and with external agencies. Experience in a municipal environment is an asset.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $24.98 – $29.41 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. The hours of work are various non-standard hours and days.

This position is defined by the Township of Langley as a position of trust (Child Safety) and requires a criminal record check.
